Xeomin, the Other Botox

Move over, Botox®, there’s a new tox in town!

While Botox® has historically been the leading choice for neuromodulator injections, newer and more advanced options have emerged in recent years.

One such choice that has been rising above is Xeomin®.

This article will give you all the necessary information surrounding Xeomin® injections, from what it is, how it works, and why many providers recommend it over Botox®.

Ready to learn all about Xeomin®? Let’s get into it!

What is Xeomin®?

Xeomin is a neurotoxin that works by temporarily relaxing facial muscles, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles resulting from dynamic facial movements.

Xeomin® injections treat a variety of concerns, including:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Forehead lines
  • Lip wrinkles
  • Masseter muscles
  • Nose lines and wrinkles

Xeomin® is also frequently used as a preventative measure; it may keep new lines from forming and existing wrinkles from worsening.

Xeomin® > Botox®

Xeomin® and Botox® are both formulated with similar types of Botulinum toxin type A, which makes them similar. However, Xeomin® is better than Botox® in a few different ways.

  • Dubbed the “SmartTox,” Xeomin® does not contain any additive proteins, making it a more natural and “pure” version of the toxin.
  • Because it contains no accessory/additive proteins, patients have a much lower chance of developing an allergic reaction.
  • Xeomin® results have been shown to appear sooner and last longer than other toxins. In some cases, changes are noticeable within five days and last up to six months.

While the specifics between neurotoxins will be discussed with your provider, Xeomin® is overall a safe and effective alternative to Botox® that many patients are finding greater success with.

Xeomin® Process

The Xeomin® injection process is virtually identical to any other neurotoxin process. If you’re new to aesthetic injections overall, here’s an overview of what you can expect!

Your provider will start by consulting with you to understand your concern areas and map out the area of treatment.

The area will be prepped and cleansed.

  1. Your provider will then inject a specified amount of Xeomin®, which will depend on the treatment area and level of toxin needed.
  2. And it’s really as simple as that! The actual process is as fast as 10-15 minutes and requires zero downtime following treatment.
  3. While some patients notice a difference immediately after, full results are generally seen within a few days.
