Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are gel-based injectables that are made from a variety of substances. The most popular FDA-approved fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), which is naturally found in the skin.

Injectable fillers are used to treat many areas of concern, including smile and laugh lines, forehead wrinkles, marionette lines around the corners of the mouth, and thinning lips (just to name a few!).

Basically, fillers are a great choice for patients who want a non-surgical solution that offers quick results with minimal downtime.

Dermal Fillers at Luminescence

Luminescence Aesthetics offers a variety of dermal fillers created specifically to reduce the appearance of laugh lines, smooth wrinkles, and add volume.

Our three most popular include:

  • Restylane™ – a hyaluronic acid filler used to treat volume loss by temporarily adding volume to specific areas of the face, including the lips. It’s also used to lift the cheeks and help smooth wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth.
  • Belotero™ – a hyaluronic acid filler similar to Restylane™

but more lightweight and easier to layer. It’s used to smooth deep wrinkles and folds (including nasolabial folds) and minimize smile lines, marionette lines, and crow’s feet.

  • Radiesse™ – a plumping filler, made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). It’s used to treat severe lines and wrinkles and is also useful for treating areas with volume loss, so it can be used to sculpt and contour the cheek and chin areas.

Dermal Filler Procedure

Before you get any filler injected, your provider will sit down with you to gain a better understanding of your aesthetic goals and come up with a customized treatment plan. The procedure itself is a quick and easy process:

  1. Your injector will cleanse the treatment area and apply a topical anesthetic if needed.
  2. They will then slowly inject the filler, gently massaging the area in between injections for an even distribution.
  3. Following the injections, you may be given an ice pack to alleviate any discomfort or swelling.
  4. You may be advised to book a follow-up appointment to assess the final results and to determine if you need additional filler (depending on the results you want).
  5. There should be no downtime (though you should follow the aftercare instructions), but it’s normal to experience side effects like bruising and swelling, which should subside within days.
