What should I expect?
Melasma lesions tend to darken after the first or subsequent treatments. Key factors in terms of treatment response are whether there is sufficient melanin in the affected area, the depth of the lesion, and other factors. Regardless of the treatment response, recurrence is common and can be caused by factors such as sun exposure, genetic disposition and hormones. It is important to understand that melasma, like eczema and psoriasis, is a chronic condition.
How many treatment sessions are required?
This can vary depending on the size density of melanin and depth of the affected area. Typically melasma will lighten or dissapear completely after 1-2 treatments although in some cases more treatments may be necessary.
What causes melasma?
Melasma is a very common patchy brown, tan, or blue-gray facial skin discoloration, primarily seen on the upper cheeks, lip, forehead and chin of women 20-50 years of age. Uncontrolled sunlight exposure is considered the leading cause of melasma, especially in individuals with a genetic predisposition to this condition. Melasma is most common among pregnant women, called Chloasma, especially those of Latin and Asian descents. People with olive or darker skin, such as Hispanic, Asian, and Middle Eastern individuals, have higher incidences of melasma.
Is your laser safe for dark skin?
What happens after my treatment?
Typically, melasma will slowly lighten over the course of the next few days to weeks as the pigmented area is slowly absorbed into the skin by your body’s natural healing process. In some cases, the pigment will darken before becoming lighter. In the event that any crusting or scabbing occurs, it is important to always keep the area moist as to reduce the risk of scarring.

Clearance of acne typically takes up to 4 treatments in order to see a good result. Acne is caused when pores become clogged and then infected with the p. acnes bacteria. It is not always caused by poor diet or hygiene, but a change in each may help yield better results. The laser light heats of the affected area to effectively kill the p. acnes bacteria while also helping to shrink the sebaceous glands, which will cause them to produce less oil, limit future outbreaks and reduce pore size.
Also, some acne may become worse before it gets better. This should subside as the treatments progress. There is no cure for acne, only maintenance, so be aware that you may need more treatments in the future.

How should I prepare? Do I shave?
We actually prefer that you shave 2 or 3 days before the procedure, leaving small 2 to 3mm stubs of hair. We ask this for several reasons but most importantly visible stubs ensures the hairs haven’t been waxed or plucked, so the shaft and follicle are intact and therefore efficacy is not compromised.
How many treatment sessions are required?
This can vary depending on skin and hair color, but generally 4 to 6 sessions are required.. After that, an annual maintenance treatment may be recommended.
How does this treatment work on PFB (ingrown hairs)?
The laser energy is absorbed by pigment in actively growing hair, damaging the hair follicle and thus, hair regrowth is impeded, reducing and eliminating the bumps caused by ingrown hairs.
Do the hairs fall out?
During your treatment, many hairs will singe upon contact with the laser beam and will disappear. Some hairs which are in a dormant growth phase will not respond at all, although some of them will be damaged even if they did not singe. Those which are damaged may fall out within a few days after treatment or even immediately if the treatment site is rubbed.

What is the difference between Botox, Xeomin, Juveau, and Dysport (aka Tox)?
BOTOX, Dysport, XEOMIN, and Jeuveau aka “tox” are all neuromodulators derived from botulinum. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Juveau are all FDA approved and aesthetically designed to smooth wrinkles. The result is almost always the same for each; they will all smooth and diminish the appearance of wrinkles.
Botox and Dysport contain an accessory protein (usually egg or lactose) to carry the toxin. Over time, the body has the ability to build up antibodies, causing the results of Botox or Dysport to diminished after continuous use.
XEOMIN does NOT contain accessory proteins, making it a “pure” version of botulinum toxin and reducing the risk of allergic reaction or resistance!
How long will my results last?
Most neuromodulators (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Juveau aka “tox”) produce results that typically last 3 to 4 months or longer. Studies have shown that individuals who have regularly scheduled neuromodulator injections enjoy longer-lasting results over time.
Does Tox hurt?
Most of our clients report little to no discomfort during the injection procedure, no more than a small pinch. Utilizing ultra-fine needles and distraction, we can ensure you will be comfortable during your treatment.
Afraid of needles? We do offer topical numbing if you are anxious about the discomfort factor.
When will I see results from tox?
Is there any downtime with tox?
There is no downtime required after toxin treatments, so you can return to work or home immediately afterward. Side effects may include redness, swelling, or bruising around the injection site. But these issues quickly fade and can be treated with an ice pack. After your appointment, you will receive post-care instructions to follow!
How do I know how much tox I need?
During your appointment, your treatment provider will review with you your desired aesthetic outcome which will allow us to accurately quote how many units you will need to achieve your desired result.
If I stop using Tox, will my wrinkles get worse then before they started?
No that is a myth, tox will not make your wrinkles worse if you stop. If you decide to not continue with tox treatments, wrinkles will eventually get back to their baseline prior to their treatment and continue to develop wrinkles as they normally would.
What areas are treated with toxin?
Common areas for toxin injections include:
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines
- Crows feet
- Brow lift
- Nose “bunny” lines
- Gummy smile
- Lip lines
- Lip Flip
- Orange peel chin
- Facial slimming
- Excessive sweating
How long will my dermal filler results last?
When will I see results from my dermal filler?
The great part about filler is that results is instant! During injection it is normal to have swelling that will resolve over the course of two weeks time, so filler results are best enjoyed about two weeks after injection.
Is there any downtime after receiving dermal filler?
There is no true “downtime” after dermal filler injections and you may return to your daily activities unless directed otherwise. After your treatment, there may be redness at the injection site, swelling, bruising, or mild discomfort. Bruising and swelling are definite possibilities with any filler. We provide pre and post care instructions to you to minimize your chances of bruising as best we can. These are generally mild and usually resolve within a few days to two weeks. After your appointment, you will receive post-care instructions to follow!
How much dermal filler will I need?
During your appointment, your treatment provider will review with you your desired aesthetic outcome and determine the most appropriate type of filler and amount to achieve those goals!
Is dermal filler reversible?
The reversibility of the filler depends on the type! Most of the fillers we offer are Hyaluronic Acid-based fillers, which are reversible. In the unlikely event you want to dissolve some of your filler, this can be done in-office during a short visit.
How do fillers work?
Different brands and types of fillers are made with different ingredients. Hyaluronic Acid fillers (Restylane, Juvederm, Belotero) use a hydrating gel that restores plumpness and definition in the skin. Other fillers restore the skin by boosting natural collagen production (Radiesse, Sculptra). Our experienced providers will help guide you towards the option that will best suit your aesthetic goals.
What is Kybella?
Kybella® is a non-surgical procedure to remove the appearance of a double chin. Administered as a series of injections, it contains a chemical compound found naturally in our bodies called deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid aids in the absorption and breakdown of fat cells in the food we eat. The treatment works simply by destroying fat cells, tightening the appearance of the chin and upper neck. Clinical trials have shown that KYBELLA is a safe and effective option for contouring this common trouble spot.
Who is a candidate for Kybella?
How long will Kybella results last?
Once fat cells have been destroyed the body, they cannot re-form and return. Your Kybella results should be long lasting, and your jaw will remain slimmed and contoured for many years after your treatment. However, it’s important to remember that remaining fat cells can potentially increase in size. To best maintain your results, follow a healthy lifestyle and stay near a relatively stable weight.

Any pigmented areas might appear slightly darker, which is a good sign. Your heaviest peel days are 3 and 4. The first signs of peeling usually begin around the mouth area, continuing for a day or two with all peeling completed by day 7. Most patients choose to peel on days off from work, so we recommend scheduling your peel 2 days before your first day off!
Can I combine treatments with a chemical peel?
Discover The TOX BOOSTER Treatment
a combined, same-day treatment that involves the safe and painless VI Peel in conjunction with a toxin injectable to enhance and extend beneficial results!

Do chemical peels hurt?
Not really. You will feel a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds during the initial application, which subsides completely almost immediately. The peel is applied topically, numbing of the skin takes place after the first pass.
Are chemical peels safe for all skin tones/types?
Chemical peels can be a safe and effective treatment for all skin tones, types, and even sensitive skin when administered by a skilled and experienced provider. Some chemical peels are gentler, making them ideal for darker skin tones by minimizing the risk of hyperpigmentation. Lighter peels are also more suitable for sensitive skin, helping to reduce irritation and other side effects. During your consultation, we’ll examine your skin type, address your skin’s needs, and discuss your goals to determine the best and safest peel for you.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a procedure that uses small ultra-fine needles to prick the skin carefully. These micro-injuries to the skin trigger the generation of more collagen and elastin, causing the skin to become smoother and firmer over time.
New collagen and elastin production can reverse years of sun damage, improve acne scars, and enhance the overall appearance of aging skin.
Microneedling is mainly used on the face and neck and treats issues such as fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, and more.
While some retailers offer “DIY” microneedling alternatives, they deliver inferior results, at best. For the safest results, it’s important to have your procedure performed by a licensed medical provider.
Who is a good candidate for Microneedling?
Microneedling is a suitable procedure for those in overall good health who want to fade imperfections and improve skin texture. It works well for diminishing pitted acne scars or other scars related to aging, and you’ll likely notice brighter, firmer skin after treatment! Microneedling also improves fine lines and wrinkles, rough skin texture, large pores, and even can help stretch marks!
Does Microneedling hurt?
Even though it uses needles, microneedling isn’t a very painful procedure. The topical anesthetic reduces most discomfort, and the pinpricks are so small that you likely won’t notice them during the procedure!
Is there downtime after microneedling?
Your skin will be red for usually 1 day after the procedure, fading to a light pink, and back to normal within 1-3 days after the treatment.
What is PRP?
Often, results of microneedling can be further improved when used in combination with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). Studies have shown that PRP can expedite the healing process of tissues and reduce the appearance of pigmentation and acne scarring when used with microneedling. PRP treatment involves using your own blood as a resource to isolate the platelets with a centrifuge. Because the blood is directly from you, the risks of the body rejecting the plasma or having an allergic reaction are minimal. PRP contains proteins and several growth factors that regulate and activate cell migration and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.

What happens after treatment?
Downtime?
Downtime for threads is expected but minimal, as you can expect to return to most normal activities within the first week. Typically, downtime is minimal, but still expect to see some bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort, lasting about 1-2 weeks. It’s recommended to avoid strenuous exercise (cardio, high impact workouts) and facial treatments for 2-4 weeks as you are healing. Most patients can return to normal activities within a few days, with makeup application possible after 24-48 hours.
PDO (polydioxanone) lifting threads are primarily used for lifting tissue such as cheeks, jowls and in the neck to provide a subtle, natural looking lift compared to surgical facelifts. They are most effective for mild to moderate sagging in the mid and lower face. PDO threads will give an immediate lift, with full results typically seen after 6-8 weeks, as your body produces collagen. The threads will begin to dissolve within 4-6 months after placement, which stimulates collagen production to help maintain the lifting effect of your PDO thread lift!
