Differences Between Skinwave and HydraFacial

During the colder months, it is essential to supply your skin with the hydration and nourishment it desperately needs, especially in the dry winter air.

Many are familiar with the comprehensive HydraFacial, known for its skin exfoliation and hydration benefits. However, a new player has entered the market—the Skinwave Hydrodermabrasion Facial.

The Skinwave Hydrodermabrasion Facial is similar to other aqua facial treatments in that it cleanses, exfoliates the skin, and increases hydration. However, Skinwave offers a more comprehensive and advanced experience with medical-grade qualities and cutting-edge technology.

So what sets the Skinwave a step above?

In this article, we’ll break down what Skinwave is and highlight the three key differences that set it apart from Hydrafacial. Our goal is to assist you in selecting the best option for your hydrating facial treatment, ensuring you make the most out of the experience.

Skinwave 101

Skinwave is a 3-step, customizable treatment that focuses on

1. Cleansing/Peeling

2. Extraction/Exfoliation

3. Hydration.

Using a specific handpiece, it incorporates solutions rich in Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA), and Hyaluronic Acid (HA) while simultaneously providing gentle extraction.

The Skinwave facial is multi-dimensional in the variety of skin concerns it targets (more on those later!):

  • Correcting uneven or dull skin tone
  • Firming and tightening the skin
  • Clearing and preventing clogged pores, excess sebum production, and acne breakouts
  • Hydrating dry, dehydrated skin

What distinguishes Skinwave is its additional handpieces, offering a more targeted and multifaceted method of delivery.

1 Hydrogen Therapy

While many facials, including Hydrafacial, employ hydrodermabrasion, Skinwave is the first and only facial created that utilizes hydrogen therapy.

Hydrogen-enriched water reacts with active oxygen in the skin, which is linked to drying and aging. The result is a release of antioxidants that reduce inflammation, combat dehydration and encourage rejuvenation.

2 Red and (or) Blue LED Therapy

Another noteworthy feature that sets Skinwave apart from HydraFacial is the inclusion of red and/or blue light therapy as an optional add-on treatment. Both lights offer added benefits by effectively opening pores for maximum absorption.

Red and blue light therapy has also been proven to ease redness and address acne while correcting uneven skin tone.

3 Contouring Roller

Last but not least, Skinwave provides one final additional handpiece: a contouring roller.

This roller glides over the skin using 360 rotation balls, which activate lymphatic circulation and drainage while relaxing the muscles. It’s the grand skin-tightening finale of an all-encompassing treatment!
